Group 1: MDID User’s Group
The Madison Digital Image Database
is a freely available open source software
application developed at James Madison
University to facilitate teaching with
digital images online and in the classroom.
This session will bring current and potential
MDID users together to share their experiences
and to ask questions. Members of the MDID
team will present software functionality
added in 2005 and upcoming new features,
including collection sharing between institutions,
faculty assisted collection building,
interoperability with other systems, and
support for new media formats. They will
also help facilitate discussion on MDID
topics pertinent to the attendees. More
information is available at http://mdid.org/.

User’s Group 3: Image Cataloger's
Forum
Catalogers join this open forum
to discuss the burning issues faced each
day as we try to implement the developing
standards and best practices of image
cataloging. During this years session
we wish to review all of the current endeavors
that affect image cataloging and open
the dialog to assess these efforts. Then
we will focus on a hot topic to be determined
by the interests expressed just prior
to the conference on VRA-L or directed
to the moderators. We will report on our
progress toward making this an official
ongoing forum within VRA and determine
next year's moderator.
