Session 10: Herding Cats: VRA Core, CCO, and XML

The VRA Data Standards Committee has been working on a major revision of the VRA Core for the last two years. The need for these changes was made clear through the writing of Cataloging Cultural Objects. At the same time, the need for a neutral data transport mechanism that could enable the merging and sharing of VRA Core data with other digital assets in a digital library environment demanded the ability to express VRA Core data in XML. This session will discuss the changes in the VRA Core, and will explore some implementations of the Core 4 in various institutions.
